Herbert Simon was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1927. He attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the Brooklyn Museum of Art School, the Hans Hofmann Art School, Vanderbilt University, Colorado College, and received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts at New York University. Simon taught at the School of Design at North Carolina State College from 1956 to 1958 and at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania from 1969 to 1992. He has exhibited his work at the Sordoni Gallery at Wilkes University in 1970, 1980, and 1993, Lehigh University in 1979, SUNY Binghamton in 1974, the Hazleton Art League in 1966, and the Phoenix Gallery in New York in 1964.
