Jay Dugan was born in 1944. His sculptures are large, simple, abstract works made out of multiple kinds of rare and intricate stone. For over twenty years he has worked with his apprentice John Fitzgerald.  Together they have produced and donated large pieces to a selection of universities.   In exchange, the universities have provided over forty students with academic scholarships.
