08F PC Sculpture Tumarkin 

 

Born in 1933 in Dresden, Germany, Igael Tumarkin moved to Palestine in 1935. Today he is known as an Israeli sculptor, painter and theatrical designer. His style is incorporates an abstract and geometrical manner and utilizes a variety of materials made to fit in public, open areas. Tumarkin’s sculptures can be found at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and the Yadmardechci Museum, Atlit.   In addition, he has done theatrical design for the Brecht Theater in East Berlin. Tumarkin is famous for the memorial sculpture of the Holocaust in the central square of Tel Aviv in Rabin Square, and for some sculptures situated in the Negev.
