This portion of the website is a project of Amy Hussey, Art 275 Museum Studies How were these works works selected?
The works on view were researched and chosen by Lehigh University students of Museum Studies and Art History, and the curatorial staff of Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG).Each group of works represents a limited edition portfolio of photography and printmaking from the University's permanent collection, reflecting multiple aspects of 20th C. American Art. Each portfolio represents a an aesthetic unti or conceptual essay, complete with title, introduction, notes on technical production, and table of contents. In addition, oil and watercolor paintings and printmaking from members of the Ashcan School can be seen on the gallery's north wall. Also known as The Eight, Ashcan artists depicted the sometimes gritty urban vitality of the era.Viewers are invited to explore individual responses, using the gallery as a visual laboratory.
