The Lower Level Gallery of the Zoellner Arts Center exhibits selections from the university's permanent collection of over 6,000 objects. It is a work/study collection, thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, representing a broad and diverse range of art and design, history and chronology. works on exhibit are the curator's choice and are rotated periodically. Ongoing research and planning is done by the LUAG staff and students of the museum studies program, often in association with other institutions and independent consultants. Paintings in the permanent collection include work by Gainsborough, Hobbema, Bonnard, Bellows and Courbet. Photographers Fenton, Cameron, Bourke-White and Brandt are represented, and prints include work by Sloane, Calder, Bearden, Oldenburg and Davies, among others. Outsider artists include Finster, Adkins, Kinney and Tolliver.
